Every now and then, if you’re like me, you’ll look down at your mug and notice that you have some rather nasty stains. So, how to clean your coffee mug then? Lets dive in and see if we can remove them to get back to having a clean coffee mug.
To get off on the right foot, lets make sure we know what not to do. Do not under any circumstances use something abrasive, such as a Brillo Pad, or a Magic Eraser to get stains off since it can remove the finish. It can be unsafe to drink from a mug that has worn off enamel. On top of that, the resulting stains can be so much worse as well.
First method we’ll look at is using Baking Soda. This is a pretty simple and easy method that uses somewhat of an abrasive substance, but it won’t remove the finish the way we clean the coffee gunk off our mug here.
- Get glass of warm (not hot) water.

Grab the baking soda.
- Drop a pinch in the bottom of the coffee mug.
- Pour a touch of water in with the baking soda.
- Use your finger and scrub the bottom of the mug.
